Hourly rate, fixed price or meter – three models, three different logics. This guide shows how chauffeur prices are calculated, what influences them and when each option makes sense, whether you live in Vienna or are visiting.
At Vienna Chauffeur Service, a chauffeur in Vienna costs from €50 per hour, including 20 km per hour, with a minimum booking of 2 hours. For fixed routes such as an airport transfer there is a fixed price on request instead. Waiting time within the booked period, child seats, Wi-Fi and bottled water are included, and no meter runs.

In Vienna you will come across three ways of paying for a ride with a driver. Which is cheaper depends on whether you are travelling a single route or need a driver for a certain amount of time.
Hourly rate: you book driver and vehicle for a period and go wherever you like within that time. With us, prices start from €50 per hour with 20 km per hour included and a 2-hour minimum. Waiting time is part of the booked time. Our page on how to rent a chauffeur in Vienna describes how this works in practice.
Fixed price: for a set route – say, from the city centre to the airport – you agree a total price before the journey. Traffic jams or diversions do not change it. This is how our Vienna airport transfer works.
Meter: a classic taxi charges by distance and time, and the final price is only known on arrival. Vienna taxi fares are set by the authorities; current information is published by the City of Vienna.
Five factors determine the price of a chauffeur journey. Anything that differs from the standard is stated in your quote before the journey:
The following examples are based on the starting rate from €50 per hour for the Business class. For First Class, Van or Minibus you receive a separate quote.
Dinner with a ride home, 2 hours: the minimum booking at the hourly rate. It includes 40 km – enough for pickup at your hotel or home, the drive to the restaurant, waiting and the return journey within Vienna.
A full day with a private driver, 8 hours: eight hours at the hourly rate, with 160 km included. That covers four or five appointments or sights between the city centre, Schönbrunn, Donau City and the airport, including waiting time.
An excursion into the countryside: on a trip to the Wachau Valley or Hallstatt, the distance usually exceeds the included 20 km per hour. Here we quote a fixed price on request covering the route and waiting time on site – see examples among our day trips from Vienna.
For a single short trip without pre-booking, a taxi or a ride-hailing app such as Uber or Bolt is usually the cheapest option. You get in, ride and pay. With app services the price can fluctuate with demand; with a taxi, the meter runs.
A chauffeur pays off as soon as reliability matters: several stops, waiting time, a fixed appointment at five in the morning, a particular vehicle, child seats or plenty of luggage after a flight. Then you are not paying a running meter but a price agreed in advance.
We hold a taxi licence ourselves but drive without a meter. If you want a single ride at a fixed price, see our Vienna taxi at a fixed price; if you are travelling from the airport into town, our guide from Vienna Airport to the city centre compares all the options.
With a limousine and driver, it is worth looking beyond the base price at what is not charged extra. With us, that includes: up to one hour of waiting time at the airport or station, extra costs from flight delays, child seats, Wi-Fi and bottled water in the vehicle.
Cancel up to two hours before pickup and there is no charge. You can pay by credit card, bank transfer or cash, and companies receive an invoice.
You can find out the price for your route on our prices page or by sending an enquiry via our online limousine booking.

It depends on the journey. For a set route the fixed price is the right choice; for several stops with waiting time, the hourly rate from €50 per hour with 20 km per hour included. In both cases you know the price before the journey.
Every booking includes the drive to you, preparation of the vehicle and the chauffeur’s reserved time. To make this work for both sides, hourly bookings have a minimum of 2 hours. For short single routes there is a fixed price instead.
Each booked hour includes 20 km. If you are planning longer distances, we include the kilometres in the quote before the journey. That way there are no surprises on the bill at the end of the day.
For a short single trip, usually yes. With several stops, waiting time or fixed appointments, a chauffeur often pays off, because no meter keeps running. You also choose the vehicle and have a driver reserved just for you.
No, up to one hour of waiting time at the airport and at railway stations is free. Flight delays do not incur extra charges. With hourly bookings, waiting time is part of the booked time anyway.
First Class with the S-Class or BMW 7 Series costs more than the Business sedan with the E-Class or BMW 5 Series. We state the exact difference in your quote so you can compare the two classes directly.
For a full day you use the hourly rate from €50 per hour. Eight hours in the Business class include 160 km, which is enough for most days in and around Vienna. For First Class or the van you receive a separate quote.
No, every item is listed in the quote before the journey. Waiting time within the booked period, child seats, Wi-Fi and bottled water are included. Cancellation is free up to two hours before pickup, and the price never changes afterwards.
For a short single trip, often yes. With app services, however, you choose neither the driver nor the exact vehicle, and the price can fluctuate with demand. For planned appointments, groups or child seats, a pre-booked chauffeur is more predictable.
An airport transfer is a single journey at a fixed price on request, depending on pickup address and vehicle class. An hourly booking only makes sense if you have several appointments straight after landing and want the driver to stay with you.
For the Mercedes V-Class van with up to 7 passengers you receive a fixed price or an hourly quote on request. Per person, the van is often cheaper for groups than several limousines, and it takes up to 6 suitcases.
Because our clients want to know the price in advance. We work exclusively with advance bookings, fixed prices or hourly rates. The licence is the legal basis; the pricing model is a deliberate choice that gives you certainty before every ride.
Cancelling up to two hours before the agreed pickup costs nothing. For later cancellations, please speak to us directly. Changes to time or address are possible subject to availability, and a short message by phone, WhatsApp or email is enough.
Within Vienna, the booking time starts with pickup at your address. For pickups outside Vienna, we include the approach in the fixed price you receive before the journey. There is no separate charge on top of the quote.
Most couples book by the hour for weddings, as the ceremony, photos and reception involve several stops. The S-Class is quoted separately. You will find details of the process on our wedding car page, including transport for guests.
A reputable quote states the duration or route, vehicle class, included kilometres and all extras in writing before the journey. Also look for full company details in the legal notice and a valid licence, so you know who you are travelling with.
The time starts at the agreed pickup at your address and ends when you get out at your final destination. If you extend during the journey, the additional time is charged at the agreed hourly rate.
No, child seats are free of charge. Tell us the age or weight of each child when booking so the right seat is ready. Several seats are possible too. For travelling families this is a real saving, as you do not need to bring your own seat.
For long-distance journeys such as Vienna to Salzburg we quote a fixed price on request. The drive takes about 3 hours and 16 minutes. The price depends mainly on the vehicle class and whether the driver returns or waits.
Choose the right type of booking: a fixed price for a route, an hourly rate for several stops. Check whether the Business class is enough and combine journeys. For groups, a van is usually cheaper than two limousines.
Yes, you receive the agreed price in writing with your booking confirmation. For companies we issue an invoice after the journey, combined for several journeys on request. Card payment is possible for private bookings, which suits international visitors.
Yes, credit card is accepted, as are bank transfer and cash. State your preferred payment method when booking so everything is quick at the end. Companies usually pay by bank transfer against invoice, combined for several journeys on request.
We tell you the price of your journey before booking, regardless of the time of day. What is in the quote applies – no surcharges are added afterwards, even for a pickup at three in the morning.
How extensions are charged is stated in your quote. Feel free to ask us in advance if you expect a short extension, and we will plan the time accordingly so there are no questions afterwards.
For recurring journeys or multi-day bookings we prepare an individual quote. Tell us about all planned journeys so we can take the overall volume into account – for trade fairs, congresses or regular trips to appointments, for example.
Not with a fixed-price journey – the price stays the same. With an hourly booking, the booked time counts. If the journey takes longer than planned because of traffic, we agree any extension with you.
The agreed price covers the journey in full. A tip is voluntary and entirely up to you if you were happy with the chauffeur. Only the agreed fare appears on the invoice, so there are no surprises for international visitors.
For the Mercedes Sprinter XXL with 9 to 21 passengers we prepare a quote on request, as a fixed price or by the hour. Per person, the minibus is usually an economical solution for larger groups.
For appointments with waiting time, often yes: the driver waits, and you do not need to park or call a taxi for the return. Two hours at the hourly rate include 40 km, which covers most journeys within Vienna.
Companies book on the same basis: an hourly rate from €50 per hour or a fixed price per route. For regular journeys or events we prepare an individual quote and an invoice to the company.
You will receive your fixed price by email – usually within a few minutes.
