We offer a private driver from Vienna to Budapest at a fixed price per vehicle on request, whether one or seven people travel. Depending on traffic and your destination address, the drive takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. Pickup is at any address in Vienna or directly at Vienna Airport, with drop-off outside your hotel in Budapest.
Vienna to Budapest is around 245 kilometres, and the drive usually takes two and a half to three hours. Your chauffeur takes the A4 East Autobahn towards Nickelsdorf and, on the Hungarian side, the M1 motorway into the city.
Austria and Hungary are both in the Schengen Area, but border checks can still happen. Please carry a valid passport or national ID card. Hungarian motorways require an electronic vignette, which changes nothing for you as a passenger: the agreed fixed price applies.
In Budapest we take you right to the door, whether that is a hotel on the Danube in Pest, an apartment in Buda or a congress hotel. What awaits you in the city is described on the official portal Budapest Info.
Many travellers land in Vienna and want to continue straight to Budapest. Vienna Airport lies east of the city and therefore already in the right direction; the route from there is even slightly shorter than from the city centre.
Your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall. If your flight lands late, there are no extra charges, and up to one hour of waiting time is free. Details about the pickup at the terminal are on our Vienna airport transfer page.
The opposite direction works too: we collect you in Budapest and bring you to Vienna-Schwechat in good time for your flight.
Fixed price within minutes – no meter, no surprises.
The reasons vary, but the pattern is similar: several people, luggage and the wish to arrive without changing trains.
For two or three people the E-Class with room for 2 suitcases is usually enough. From four people or with more luggage the van is the better choice, taking up to 7 passengers and 6 suitcases. Larger groups travel in the Sprinter with 9 to 21 seats. All vehicles are no more than 36 months old.
A stop along the way makes the drive more than a transfer. Győr lies roughly halfway and has an attractive baroque old town, good for a coffee break or lunch.
Pannonhalma Archabbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies south of Győr and needs a small detour. If you still want to go shopping, you can stop at the designer outlet right at the start; more on that on our Parndorf outlet transfer page.
We plan stops when you send your request, so that the arrival time and fixed price are correct from the outset.
We are available around the clock – also for rides within the next hour.
Direct trains run regularly between Vienna and Budapest, and for solo travellers with a small suitcase they are a good choice. Long-distance buses are usually cheaper still, but take longer.
A private car shows its strengths when you travel as a group, carry a lot of luggage or start at Vienna Airport. You go door to door, with no taxi to the station and no changes. More destinations in neighbouring countries are listed under long-distance transfers from Vienna.
